ST PETER'S WALSALL

CELEBRATING OUR RE-OPENING

Not many people realise that ten years ago St Peter’s was marked for closure – but earlier this year we gathered to celebrate the re-opening of our church building following some long-awaited and much-needed alterations, carried out as part of the revitalisation of the church, a process which has been going on for some years now.

Listen to Bishop Clive Gregory's 2½ minute summary of our church's transformation here,
watch the video above to see how the refurbishment unfolded,
– and just come along to see for yourself what's going on!

You can also visit St Peter's Walsall YouTube Channel
for encouragement and hope from earlier online services and resources.

Alpha

The Alpha Course We love Alpha! Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Typically Alpha has around ten sessions and includes food, a short talk and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts.

Please keep checking back here for news of our next course. If you'd like to come, or if you have any questions about it, send us an email, or give us a ring on 01922 645423.

We have a couple of community grous which meet regularly; please ask for details.

There's also Wednesday Evening Worship from 7-9pm – it's an extended time of worship with Bible exploration using the Discover App. It's a great way to get going at St Peter's. so please just come and join in!

Pub Quiz

Every once in a while we're at the Pretty Bricks in John Street for the pub quiz. The main aim is to chill out and make friends – but you can check the brain cells are still engaging as well.

Watch here for the date of the next quiz…

Safeguarding

We are safe here! We have a safeguarding policy, and our Children’s Leaders have DBS checks and Safeguarding Training. Please note that parents are responsible for their children before and after the children’s groups in the hall, and please respect boundaries: only children’s workers should be in the children’s group area. If something makes you uncomfortable please pass it on to an appropriate person: Kim Baker or Kate Gray. You can also contact the Diocese of Lichfield or thrtyone:eight – see the details below. Thank you for making our church safe!

Eden Walsall

Eden Walsall We're so plesed that for six years we got to partner with Eden – a grass-roots community movement which serves people, and young people in particular, in tough areas. We hope to re-launch our community activity in due course; for now, have a look at these articles from the Message for a flavour of what we enjoyed with Gav and Jem…

We're always looking for people who choose to live and work here – so if you want to worship God, make friends and change the world, then come to Walsall and join us!

WELCOME

Welcome! St Peter's first opened its doors in 1841, and re-launched at Christmas 2013 – so once again we're praying and working as St Peter's becomes a vibrant, welcoming church, worshipping God and loving the people of our community. Please find out more, and get involved - we'd love to be in touch with you.

Sunday 10.30am

This is an informal service with lively worship music and practical Bible teaching, usually with Holy Communion. It lasts about 1½ hours, followed by something to drink and a chance to chat.

For kids aged 4 and above, Breakthrough starts on Sunday at 10.30 in the Hall (we'll help you find it if you don't know where it is), and we all join together in church for worship and communion at 11.30.

There is space and a range of activities for the under fours and their parents at the back of church too.

Children's Drawings

Wednesday 11am

Wednesday Worship Services
are a bit more traditional – so if you like hymns and some quiet reflection in the company of good friends this one's for you. It lasts about 1 hour. Refreshments are available after every service, sometimes with a shared lunch, and we also pay monthly visits to the residents of the Arboretum Nursing Home and Harden Hall.

Wednesday 7pm

Informal Worship and Bible Time
There's good music, good Bible exploration using the Discover App, and good company. This is very informal, and it's especially good if the idea of 'church' seems a bit much.

GIVE

If you'd like to support the work of St Peter's, please donate online here.
Thank you!

DAILY BIBLE READING

Reading the Bible every day as a way to know and love God personally is so important – that's why we encourage everyone to make the most of resources like Bible in One Year which gives practical, helpful and encouraging support, including readings, notes and online audio. You can download the app, subscribe with email, or just go to the BIOY web site.

Another great framework for lots of daily Bible reading and scripture memorization is the Church of England's Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and Night Prayer. Find out more at the Daily Prayer web site, or download the Daily Prayer app for Apple iOS or Android

DAILY PRAYER

We're learning to take hold of everything Jesus has done for us in our daily lives through the extended prayer John Eldredge created (See Prayers We Pray), and we've worked through what it means and how it all helps. The prayer itself and the weekly notes from our talks are provided here for personal and community group reflection.
